NEAT - Native Emerging Artists Training

Are you a Native artist?
Have you ever applied to a juried art show?
No?  Then this program is for you!

This intensive ten-month program, designed for Emerging Native American Artists on the Wind River Indian Reservation, provides instruction in professional development followed by a juried exhibition.  Participants will attend classes and create an entry packet containing a CD of artwork and all supporting materials needed to enter a juried show.  Hanging of artwork and presentation will also be covered.  The program will end in a reception and six-week exhibit at the Lander Art Center.

Classes start in September 2009, give classes per month will be held on the the Wind River Reservation.  Each month will focus on one topic.  Experienced instructors highly qualified in each topic will guide students through each session.  The topics will be:
-Artist Statement, Resume, and Business Cards
-Photographing Artwork
-Digital Editing
-Entry Packet and Mailing List
-Mock Exhibit and Presentation of Artwork
-Framing, Matting, and Packing

Help will be available to ensure that each artist involved is successful in completing the objectives.  Entry packets are due January 31, 2010.

The program will end in a reception and six-week exhibit at the Lander Art Center.  All participants successful in completing the training will be included.

*Professional Native American artists not participating in the training may apply to the exhibition by submitting an artist statement, resume and a CD limited to five images.  Please include numbered thumbnail images matching images on CD.  CD's cannot be returned.  Send to Dannine Donaho, NEAT Coordinator, c/o Lander Art Center, 224 Main Street, Lander WY  82520.  Deadline for applications is January 31, 2010.

Artists pay the $10 program fee and provide examples of work completed within the past three years.  During this meeting, the program will be explained in detail while presenters welcome participants' input in order to shape the curriculum to meet students' needs.  Space is limited to 25 artists.
