Wind River Development Fund offers a variety of different training and business development services to meet the needs of reservation entrepreneurs and businesses. SAGE (Strengthening and Growing Entrepreneurs) Course
This is an 10-week, 50-hour business planning course designed specifically for reservation entrepreneurs. Topics include marketing in a rural community, pricing, cash flow projections, setting business goals, business structure, and tax and licensing issues, to name a few. Upon completion of the course, participants will have a written business plan in hand. The course is offered three times per year and costs $25. Completion of the course is required for all new businesses wanting to apply for a loan from our loan program.
Building Native Communities: Financial Skills for Families
WRDF teaches financial literacy courses several times each year. This curriculum teaches personal financial management skills like budgeting, saving, the use of credit, and ways to build wealth. It was designed by First Nations Development Corporation and Fannie Mae specifically for Native American communities. The course is a requirement for all of our Individual Development Account participants, and is free to the public.
Individual Business Assistance
WRDF provides free and confidential business assistance for entrepreneurs thinking about starting a business, or those already operating an existing business. Our trained staff can help you with just about every business-related issue, from developing a marketing plan to credit counseling to developing cash flow projections to helping you fill out a loan application. We’re open from 7:30am-6pm Monday through Thursday and 8am-5pm on Fridays. You can call to make an appointment, or just drop in!
Business Resource Center
We have a small business resource center with various business books and magazines, a computer with internet access, color printer and copier. Come in and let us help you with your business needs!
Small Business Development Center
The Fremont County Small Business Development Center works out of our office one day a week. Margie Rowell, the local SBDC counselor, provides free, confidential business counseling. Call our office for an appointment.
